This months installment comes in the form of a podcast I did with Kelli Walker for her series, Not Another Anxiety Show. On this episode we “got deep under the hood” of my previous post about Deconstructing Anxiety. Please have a listen (click episode #102) and see what you think and feel about our discussion. There’s a lot of content to get your head around and start to better understand your own anxious process. And, as always, please pass it on if the spirit moves you. I rely on word of mouth and social media to grow my audience, so your gesture of support is much appreciated.
Stay tuned later this month for my second installment in the Compassionate Gladiators series. This story is sure to make you think about how you would react and respond if the sands beneath your feet shifted in cataclysmic ways.
I subscribe to that podcast. I enjoyed this episode thoroughly. Do you have any tips for developing the awareness ‘muscle’ in your brain? Will this help with my social panic attacks?
Thanks

Hi Duane:
Thank you for taking the time to listen to the podcast. I am glad to hear that you found it to be helpful. Related to building that observational muscle in your mind: Here’s how I would suggest starting that process, which can be cumbersome and awkward at first (but the more you do it, the easier it will become)…get Jon kabbat-Zinns book Full Catastrophe Living and begin to practice his style of mindfulness. He suggests 45 minutes a day, but i would uege you to start with 5 minutes daily and then increase by 5-10 minutes as the exercise feels more accessible to you. I prefer this style of mindfulness because it is not geared to clear your mind or alter your breathing or think positively. It merely helps us start the process of being still in our body and mind and observing what arises. Also, Tara Brach is another person who has been very helpful for me on this journey of building an interior world that is steeped in observation vs reaction. I hope this helps you on your journey. please feel free to keep in touch if you have additional questions.
Be well
